Historic Views of The Year 1980

Pac-Man is a classic among computer games that came in 1980. The popular game is considered a symbol of 1980s popular culture.
In the game one controls a yellow circle with mouth. It moves around in a maze and eat dots and prizes as it comes across, while four ghosts (Inky, Pinky, Blinky and Clyde) is trying to catch it. By letting the yellow circle (pac-man) eat one of four special pills can eliminate the ghosts in a short while. Each level is completed by the Pac-man eating up all dots in the maze..

Happenings in 1980 was:

  • Alexander Kielland platform capsized and 123 people died. This is the worst accident in Norwegian oil history.
  • Great Strikes in Poland. Lech Walesa emerged as the leader of Solidarity. (Was there).
  • Norway and 64 other countries boycotted the Olympics in Moscow because of the invasion of Afghanistan.
  • Eric Heiden was "skating king" at the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. Bjørg Eva Jensen took gold in the 3000 meters.
  • 100,000 people was still on the waiting list for telephone and the scheme of feast telegram ended.
  • It came to an end with rail traffic at Rådhusplassen in Oslo.
  • The disease smallpox was declared eradicated.
  • Monty Python-film "Life of Brian" was declared blasphemous and forbidden.
  • Robert Mugabe won most free elections in Zimbabwe, formerly Rhodesia.
  • War broke out between Iraq and Iran. Olof Palme was appointed as mediator.
  • The murder of John Lennon in New York.
  • Ronald Reagan became president of the United States.
  • Joseph Tito, Yugoslavia's leader since 1945, died.
