Historic Views of The Year 1981

Frank Zappa released the double LP's "You Are What You Is", "Tinseltown Rebellion" and the LP "Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar Some More" and "Return Of The Son of Shut Up' n Play Yer Guitar. "

These are some of the happenings in 1981:

  • The warden of the Orkdal Age and Nursing Home, Arnfinn Nesset, was charged with murder on 22 elderly patients. He was sentenced to 21 years in prison and 10 years "aftercare" judgment.
  • New demonstrations in Alta - the police removed protesters and Alta development was underway.
  • Parliament approved the agreement about storing American military materiel.
  • "Hadeland killings." It was focused on the neo-Nazi groups.
  • Pope John Paul 2 was seriously wounded in assassination. There were also assassination of the American President Ronald Reagan.
  • It was introduced state of emergency in Poland to stop Solidarity gaining ground.
  • Prince Charles and Lady Diana married.
  • Norway got the world's first commissioner for children.
  • Norway won against England in World Cup qualifying soccer - and Bjørge Lillelien had his most famous commentator job.
  • Gro Harlem Brundtland became prime minister for the first time after long conflict in the labor party.
  • That fall AP lost the election and Kåre Willoch became prime minister in a "clean" Right Government.
  • Inflation was 14 percent in one year.
