Historic Views of The Year 1997

Norwegian organization for the study of extraterrestrial intelligence (NETI) is a Norwegian organization communicating information about the phenomenon of unidentified flying object, ie UFOs. Society believes that UFOs are real non-earthly spacecraft, and members work among other with finding the answer to the UFO mystery, increased research in the area and increased information about UFOs in society.

These are some noteworthies in 1997:

  • Ski jumper Lasse Ottesen jumped 212 meters in Planica and set a new world record.
  • Tony Blair became prime minister in England.
  • Norway beat Brazil 4-2 in football in a private country match.
  • Mike Tyson was biting Evander Holyfield's ear.
  • Hong Kong was again part of China.
  • Slobodan Milosevic became president of Yugoslavia.
  • Princess Diana and Dodi al Fayed died in a traffic accident in Paris.
  • Labor (AP) did not get 36.9% at parliamentary elections, which Thorbjorn Jagland claimed to continue in government. Kjell Magne Bondevik (krf) took over as prime minister.
  • Kyoto Protocol on greenhouse gases was signed.
  • The nun and Nobel Peace Prize winner Mother Theresa and the Italian fashion king Gianni Versace died.
  • Boys tour went to Porsgrunn.
